Once a Person Is Saved Are They Always Saved?

Once Saved, Always Saved

When a choice is made to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, a relationship is forged that cannot be undone. This relationship is what guarantees your salvation. Multiple Biblical scriptures support this fact.

God Chooses and Justifies

God has chosen his children and defined what they will be like, he then follows that decision up by calling them to himself. When God calls a child, he justifies them or sets them on solid ground.

After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. Romans 8:30 says, "And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."

Christ Is Our Advocate and Judge

This paradoxical relationship guarantees that no one can bring charges against the one Christ has saved. The One who judges is also the One who justifies; therefore no one can bring charges against the believer. Paul clearly asks these two critical questions in Romans 8:33-34: "Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."

Believers Are Born Again

In John Chapter 3 it states that you become “born again” (John 3:3) when you believe (John 3:15) in Jesus Christ. Titus 3:5 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit". When someone is born again and made new, it cannot be reversed or un-born — the Bible never mentions or gives any evidence that your new birth can be taken away.

The Holy Spirit Becomes Part of the Believer

There are several scriptures (John 14:17; Romans 8:9) that refer to the Holy Spirit becoming part of the believer; this in turn makes the believer part of the body of Christ. We were created to all be part of the one Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 12:13). This means the body of Christ remains one, just as a physical body remains as one entity with many parts. There are no amputations from the body of Christ.

Eternal Is Forever

In John 3:15, the Bible reassures believers that “that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.". The definition of eternal is “lasting for all time.” If salvation could be lost, it would never be truly "eternal" after all.

God Saves and Keeps, Guaranteed!

God’s love for those he has called and who have believed is so strong that He has declared that there is NOTHING that can separate us from Him, once we are His.

Romans 8:38-39 boldly declares: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Ephesians 1:13-14 states: "And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory."
